Does a belief in God always have a positive affect on your life?

A friend of mine who I have not seen in a year or so, due to moving for University, has recently become 'more' religious.

We went to the same Catholic High School, where he showed no interest in religion. After meeting up again he has told me how he has become more content with himself now that he follows God more closely, and often attends services and is genuinly happier now than he was a year or two ago.

When I was much younger I had a hard belief in God, but now feel more content that I see the world without the need for a 'Divine' pressence.

Is a belief in God always good for you? Or does it depend on the situations that your life brings you?Does a belief in God always have a positive affect on your life?
(YES); a belief in God always has a positive effect on my life !Does a belief in God always have a positive affect on your life?
God is our real friend who will care for our welfare. So it is better to have faith in Him always [both in good times and bad times] God is Omnipresent. Everyman is the embodiment of God. What God gives is never exhausted. What man gives never lasts!
In some ways, its possible that religion brings joy to others. I think sometimes it disappoints people, and makes them even more discouraged than ever to believe.
Depends on what god and why.

Some people believe the World is attacking them as constantly as god is judging them. Not happy people. Not at all.
no!!!!
I think that the belief in God being positive in a person's life is an experience completely unique to that person. I don't think that ';forcing'; an atheist to believe in God will make their life more positive, and I don't think that ';forcing'; a Christian to stop believing in God will make their life less positive. If your beliefs or non-beliefs work for you - then that's positive. Who cares if you draw your strength from your logic, from your friends, from you God, or from the earth? As long as you have the tools that you need to successfully make it through life, who cares what ';brand'; they are?
YES!!! Absolutely. Belief in God means considering what He wills. When you see life in that light, it is always more meaningful and great. Besides, why doesn't God want you to sin? Why doesn't He want you to be distracted from your loved ones who need you, by your own selfish desires? Because, He wants you to be HAPPY! Are you a worthless, soon to be forgotten creature that is here for no reason? NOOOO, nobody was made for nothing. You have purpose, a powerful design and so much to live for! With a loving bond with God Almighty, you will have all the strength and grace needed to fulfill that purpose.

It is not always easy to do God's Will over your own, so feeling ';content'; may not always happen. Eventually, when you have mastered the virtue of purity, learning self-control of the flesh on every level, then you will be at total peace, as is extremely evident in the lives of the saints. Once they got to this point, nothing could shake them. They had no anxiety! But it took time, patience and hard work to earn that total peace of heart, mind and soul.

';The road that stretches before the feet of a man is a challenge to his heart long before it tests the strength of his legs. Our destiny is to run to the edge of the world and beyond, off into the darkness: sure for all our blindness, secure for all our helplessness, strong for all our weakness, gaily in love for all the pressure on our hearts.'; St. Thomas Aquinas
