What are the things you need to know how to do before moving out and starting your own life?

Talking about someone who plans on going to college and wants to live with a friend. 18-years-old.

What are the steps?

What should I just get out of the way while I'm 17?What are the things you need to know how to do before moving out and starting your own life?
First step is wait until you are 18, the second step is have a source of income and learn to budget before you are out on your own. Pretend that you are on your own and find out what your rent, electricity, phone, grocery, car expenses etc. would be and set that money in an untouchable account for six months to a year.

If you do that you will see how expensive it is to live on your own and if you are ready. Remember that whoever you live with will also have to be equally responsible. If that person is not then don't even think about moving in with them.

Without knowing anything about you let me suggest that the best place you can live while attending college is at home and going to the local community college for the first two years. In that time you can work and study and save money. This will give you a huge boost for your future in terms of finances, responsibility and focus. You will be way ahead of your peers. What are the things you need to know how to do before moving out and starting your own life?
One mistake that I made was moving out without realizing i needed some good credit going for me before i left the sanctuary of home. second, make sure that who you're moving in with has a steady income, and can pay the bills as well as yourself. and in the case that something goes wrong, make sure that you can pay the bills for them in case they do lose their job for instance, or your roommate just bails on you. third, make sure that you stay in good standing with your parents when you do move out.. in case you need to come back home for instance.

wish you the best, i did all that when i was 17, and i'm 20 now and still fighting to survive.
You pretty much have to walk into the unknown boldly and with vigor. Those are your best assets. It is an exciting time for you I suspect. There is nothing other than money to think about. Can you pay for your own food, etc. If that is organized and worked out than put your best foot forward and have fun with it.

good luck,
